Why Switch to Static?

WordPress powers 40% of the web, which makes it the #1 target for hackers. Static sites remove the database entirely, closing the door on attacks.

Hack Proof

No login page. No SQL database. No PHP execution. Perfect for Medical Practices and Legal Firms.

Instant Speed

Static HTML loads instantly anywhere in the world. Achieve 100/100 Google PageSpeed scores effortlessly. Test your WordPress site's speed free.

Zero Maintenance

Stop paying "care plans" just to update plugins. Static sites stay online and secure forever without updates.

Why do WordPress sites get hacked?

Not because somebody chose your business. Almost every small-site compromise is automated: scanners crawl the web looking for a specific version of a specific plugin with a known flaw, find thousands of sites running it, and work through the list. Nobody read your homepage. You were a row in a database.

Which means the flaw was public, and usually a patch had been available for months. That is the uncomfortable part. The gap is not between you and a sophisticated attacker; it is between the day the plugin author released a fix and the day somebody applied it to your site. If nobody is being paid to look, that gap is however long it has been since your developer last logged in.

Auto-updates help and cause their own problems — a plugin updating itself at three in the morning can break a layout or a form, and nobody notices until a customer mentions it. Updates need applying and then checking. That is unglamorous, it is what a care plan actually buys, and it is the difference between a site that quietly works and one that quietly does not.

Should I fix my WordPress site or move off it?

Both are legitimate and we do both, so here is the honest split. Keep WordPress if something on it earns its keep: a shop running on WooCommerce with real stock, a membership or booking plugin your staff know and rely on, an integration nobody has rebuilt elsewhere, or a team that publishes several times a week and is fluent in the editor. In those cases the answer is not migration, it is maintenance done properly.

Move off it if your site is what most Irish small business sites are: five to ten pages describing the business, some photographs, and a contact form. That gets no benefit whatsoever from a database and thirty plugins, while carrying the full maintenance and security cost of both. You are paying for machinery you are not using.

There is a third answer we give more often than people expect: leave it alone. If your site works, someone competent is applying updates and testing backups, and it loads quickly, then there is nothing here to sell you. Run it through our free speed test and see. The technical case for static is set out on static websites vs WordPress.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move?

This is the right thing to worry about, and it is why some businesses stay on a broken site for years. Done carelessly, a migration is the fastest way to throw away traffic you spent years earning. Done properly, rankings carry across and usually improve, because you are about to get considerably faster and speed is a ranking signal.

The entire risk sits in URLs. Every address that exists today must either still work or permanently redirect to its replacement — including the ones you have forgotten about, the variants with and without a trailing slash, old category pages, and feed URLs that still have links pointing at them. We crawl the existing site and map every URL before anything is built, then keep those redirects in version control so they are not depending on anyone's memory.

The rest is procedure: titles and descriptions carried over unless we are deliberately improving them, canonical tags pointing at one address each, a fresh sitemap submitted, and Search Console watched for several weeks after the switch. Your existing site stays live and untouched throughout — nothing changes until you have seen the replacement and approved it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WordPress site was hacked. What do I do first?

Take it offline or put it behind a maintenance page, change every password including hosting and database, and do not simply delete the defacement and carry on — whatever got in is usually still there. Then decide between cleaning the existing install properly or rebuilding clean and migrating the content. For a small brochure site the rebuild is often cheaper than a thorough clean, and you know for certain what you are left with.

How much does WordPress maintenance cost?

A care plan on an existing WordPress site is from €90 a month, covering updates applied and tested, backups you can actually restore from, uptime and security monitoring, and small content edits. If you would rather move off WordPress, a static rebuild is €0 upfront and €50 a month, or €599 once to own it outright, with the first year of hosting free and an optional €15 a month after that. See the pricing page.

Should I keep WordPress or move off it?

Keep it if you rely on a specific plugin nobody has replaced elsewhere, if you run a large shop on WooCommerce, or if staff publish daily and know the editor well. Move off it if your site is a five-to-ten page brochure that collects enquiries — that gets no benefit from a database and a plugin stack, and carries all the maintenance cost of both. We will tell you which you are honestly, including when the answer is to leave things alone.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I migrate?

Not if the URLs are handled properly, and that is the whole job. Every existing address either keeps working or 301-redirects to its replacement — including trailing-slash variants and old category or feed URLs that still have links pointing at them. We map every URL before rebuilding, keep the redirects in version control, and watch Search Console for weeks afterwards. Speed is a ranking signal, so a well-run migration usually helps.

Can you just take over maintenance from my current developer?

Yes, and you do not need an awkward conversation with them first. We need hosting and WordPress admin access, and the domain registrar login or confirmation that the domain is in your name — worth checking, because it often is not. We audit what is installed, tell you what we find, and take it from there.

What is actually included in a care plan?

Core, theme and plugin updates applied on a schedule and checked afterwards rather than left on auto-update to break silently. Off-site backups that get test-restored, because an untested backup is not a backup. Uptime and malware monitoring. An SSL certificate that does not expire unnoticed. And small content edits without a separate invoice each time.

My site is fine. Do I really need a care plan?

If somebody competent is already applying updates, testing backups and watching for problems, then no. The risk is not that WordPress is bad — it is that nobody is looking. Sites are rarely targeted deliberately; they are found by automated scanners hunting a known plugin flaw that had a patch available for months. That is the failure we are preventing.

How long does a migration take?

Usually two to three weeks for a brochure site, most of it spent mapping URLs and moving content rather than building. The existing site stays live and untouched the whole time, and we switch over only once you have seen and approved the replacement.
