Message on WhatsAppHow do Galway customers find a local business online?
By place name, and in Galway the place names carry more weight than most. Salthill, Knocknacarra, Oranmore, Renmore, Tuam, Loughrea, Clifden. Somebody in Connemara is not looking for a business in Ballinasloe, and both are technically Galway. A site that says "serving Galway and surrounding areas" matches none of those searches.
So the useful thing is to be specific and honest about geography. Which towns you cover, how far west you actually travel, whether you charge for distance. County Galway is large and a customer in Clifden genuinely does not know whether a Galway city business will come out to them. Answering that on the page saves both of you a phone call.
The Google Business Profile does the heaviest lifting for local searches — it is the map panel that gets the calls, and it needs claiming, verifying, and matching the details on your site. That is set up as part of every plan. If nothing is showing at all, the causes are usually simple and are listed on why your business is not showing up on Google.
What if my Galway business is seasonal?
A great deal of trade in Galway runs on the season — tourism, hospitality, activity operators, anything that fills up between May and September and goes quiet after. That changes what a website has to be good at. The design matters less than whether the information on it is true today.
Three things carry the weight. Opening hours that reflect the season you are actually in, not the ones set two years ago. A clear line on availability — booking out, taking enquiries, closed until March. And an enquiry or booking route that works on a phone with two bars of signal, because a visitor deciding what to do tomorrow is standing outside somewhere with bad reception.
That is part of why a content update a month is included rather than charged for. Changing your hours should not involve an invoice or a wait, because a website carrying last summer's opening times does more harm than a website with none. You email us the change and we make it.
Do I need a Galway-based web designer?
For the building, no. There are no site visits involved in making a website, and being able to call into an office is worth less than it sounds. What actually costs businesses money is a designer who stops replying — and that happens just as easily to someone twenty minutes away as to someone in Dublin.
What does matter is understanding how your customers search, which in Galway means place names, seasonality and sometimes both languages. That shapes the pages and the words, and it is a content question rather than a geography one. We are Dublin-based, we work with businesses across the west, and the whole thing runs remotely.
Ask any designer the same four things: who writes the code, what a change will cost in a year, whose name the domain is registered in, and whether you can see a price without a meeting. Straight answers to those matter more than a local address. We also have pages for Dublin and Cork if you are comparing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does web design cost in Galway?
€0 upfront and €50 a month for a five-page site, including hosting, domain, SSL, security, one content update a month and Google Business Profile setup, for 12 monthly payments — then it's yours. €599 once if you would rather own it outright, with the first year of hosting free and an optional €15/month after that. Ten pages with a blog and quote forms is the Bigger Brochure plan, from €900. Booking systems and portals are quoted from €1,500 plus €125/month. Full detail on the pricing page.
Do you have an office in Galway?
No — we are Dublin-based and work with businesses right across the west. A website needs no site visits, and the whole process runs by phone, email and video. The questions worth asking any designer are whether they will still reply in eighteen months and whose name your domain is registered in, not where their desk is.
Can you build a bilingual or Irish-language site?
Yes, and in parts of Galway it is worth doing properly rather than as an afterthought. That means real translated pages with the right language markup so search engines index each version, not a widget that machine-translates on the fly. It usually sits on the Bigger Brochure plan because it roughly doubles the page count — tell us which pages need both languages.
Will my site rank for my part of Galway?
Nobody can promise a position. What decides it is naming the areas you actually cover — Salthill, Oranmore, Knocknacarra, Tuam, Clifden — rather than just 'Galway', a page per service, a claimed Google Business Profile and fast loading on a phone. That is most of the work for a local business.
My customers are seasonal. Does that change anything?
It changes what the site has to do. For tourism, hospitality and anything trading on the season, the site needs opening hours and availability that are actually current, and a booking or enquiry route that works on a phone in poor signal. A content update a month is included precisely so hours and seasonal notices do not go stale.
How long does it take?
Two to three weeks for a five-page site once we have your text and photographs. The build is fast; gathering content is what takes the time. We design your homepage first and you pay nothing until you approve it.
Can you take over an existing site?
Usually. If it is a WordPress site that has become slow or insecure we either maintain it properly or move it to a static build — see WordPress maintenance and security. Our free speed test will tell you what you are dealing with.
