How do wedding planners in Ireland get found by couples?

The search almost never starts with "wedding planner". It starts with a county or a venue. A couple who has just put a deposit on a barn in Kilkenny types "wedding coordinator Kilkenny" or the venue's own name plus "planner". Someone with a small budget searches "on the day coordinator Ireland" because they have worked out that is the part they cannot do themselves.

Those are three different couples with three different budgets, and they type three different things. A website that says all of it in plain words — the counties you travel to, the venues you have worked at, the difference between full planning and turning up on the morning — gives Google something to match. A single page that says "luxury weddings, bespoke design" matches nothing, because nobody searches that way.

This is also the reason a beautiful Squarespace site can sit invisible for a year. The design was never the problem. The pages never named a place or a service in the words a couple uses. We go through the usual causes in detail on why your business is not showing up on Google.

Do I need a website if I already have Instagram?

Instagram is very good at one job: making a couple want the wedding you built. It is poor at every job after that. A grid is chronological, so your best work sinks. There is nowhere to explain that full planning starts eighteen months out and on-the-day coordination starts six weeks out. There is no way for a couple to see whether you travel to Donegal. And enquiries arrive as DMs that land in a requests folder alongside spam.

The practical argument is ownership. Your follower list is not yours, the reach is set by someone else, and accounts do get locked at the worst possible moment. A website is the one part of your presence you control — the pages, the enquiry form, the email address the enquiries land in. Instagram should feed it, not replace it.

In practice the two work together. Your feed does the wanting, a link in bio does the qualifying, and the enquiry form arrives with a date, a venue and a budget range already attached. That is the same pattern we set up for any small Irish business whose customers find them socially and buy them slowly.

Why do couples leave before my gallery loads?

Because your portfolio is heavier than any other kind of website. A photographer hands over full-resolution files meant for print, several megabytes each. Thirty of those on one page is a page that has to move tens of megabytes before it looks like anything. On a desk with fibre it feels fine. Standing in a venue car park on a patchy signal, which is exactly where couples browse suppliers, it is a blank white screen.

The fix is not fewer photos. It is smaller files that still look right. We convert every image to WebP, generate a set of sizes so a phone downloads a phone-sized image rather than a print-sized one, and hold back everything below the fold until the couple scrolls to it. The pages themselves are static HTML on a CDN, so there is no database query and no plugin stack between the click and the picture.

If you already have a site and want to know where it stands, run it through our free website speed test. Look at the mobile score rather than the desktop one — that is the number your couples are living with.

What should be on a wedding planner's website?

A couple shortlists three or four suppliers in one sitting. Six things decide whether you make the list.

The counties and venues you cover

Couples search by county and by venue name. Say plainly where you work and which venues you know, or Google has nothing to match you to.

Your services as separate pages

Full planning, partial planning and on-the-day coordination are different jobs at different prices. One page each, so the right couple lands on the right one.

Portfolio grouped by wedding

Not one endless grid. A handful of real weddings, each with its own set of photos, so a couple can see a whole day come together.

An honest note on how pricing works

You do not have to publish a price list. Saying whether you charge a flat fee or a percentage, and what a typical starting budget looks like, filters out the enquiries you cannot serve.

Dates you have left

A short line about the season you are booking for now creates a reason to enquire this week rather than bookmark you.

An enquiry form that asks the right things

Date, venue or county, guest numbers and budget range. Four fields turn a vague 'how much?' into a conversation you can price.

How do I stop wasting time on enquiries I cannot serve?

Most planners lose hours a week to the same conversation: a lovely couple, a date you are already booked for, or a budget that was never going to reach. The website can do that filtering before you ever open your inbox.

Two changes do most of the work. First, be specific about what each service involves and roughly where it starts — you do not have to publish a rate card, but a couple should be able to tell whether they are in the right room. Second, ask for the date, the venue or county, the guest number and a budget range on the form itself. Four extra fields, and every enquiry that arrives is one you can answer properly in a single reply instead of three.

The enquiries that then get through are worth more, because a couple who has read what full planning includes and still filled in the form has already talked themselves most of the way into it. Our pricing page takes the same approach, for the same reason.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding planner website cost in Ireland?

Our Starter plan is €0 upfront and €50 a month: a five-page site with hosting, domain, SSL, security, one content update a month and Google Business Profile setup, for 12 monthly payments — then it's yours. If you would rather own the site, Own It is €599 once, with the first year of hosting included free and an optional €15/month after that, no minimum term. A bigger site with a blog and enquiry forms is the Bigger Brochure plan, from €900. Everything is on the pricing page.

Do I need a website if all my enquiries come from Instagram?

Instagram is where couples find your look. A website is where they check whether you are actually a fit — which counties you cover, what full planning includes versus on-the-day coordination, roughly what it costs. It is also the only part of your presence you own. If reach drops or an account is locked, a website and its enquiries stay yours.

Will my portfolio photos slow the site down?

Not if the images are handled properly. We convert your photographer's files to WebP, generate a smaller version for each screen size and load images below the fold only as the couple scrolls. The gallery still looks full quality on a laptop and it still opens quickly on a phone. You can check any existing site with our free speed test.

How long does it take to build?

Usually two to three weeks from the point we have your photos and your service descriptions. We design the homepage first and show it to you before anything else happens — you pay nothing until you approve it.

Can I use photos from weddings I have worked on?

Check two things first: that the photographer has given you permission to use their images commercially, and that the couple is happy to be shown. Photographers usually grant supplier usage with a credit. We build the credit line into the gallery layout so it is easy to keep to.

Can couples book a consultation call online?

Yes. A simple enquiry form comes as standard. A live calendar where a couple picks a slot and it lands in your diary is available on the Bigger Brochure plan. Deposit payments, contract signing and a client portal for a shared planning timeline are custom work, quoted from €1,500 plus €125/month.

Do you work with venues and other wedding suppliers?

Yes — venues, photographers, florists, stylists and celebrants all sell the same way, on images and trust. Venues often want a menu or brochure section too, which works much like a restaurant menu page.

Why is my current website not showing up on Google?

Most often because it never says where you work or names what you do in the words couples type. Sometimes it is a Google Business Profile that was never claimed. We go through the common causes on this page.

  • Restaurant and venue websites

Venues are your closest supplier relationship, and a venue site that photographs well makes your own portfolio easier to sell.

  • Our portfolio

Worth a look if you are judging whether we can handle image-led design, since that is the whole job here.

  • Booking-led service sites

How consultation booking works on a site where the first meeting is the actual sales conversation.
